About this artwork

With this painting, I wanted to convey my fascination with the natural textures that vegetation offers to the eye.

It was during the last few seasons spent wandering in nature, hiking or paddling on the water, that I observed the different shades of green highlighted by leaves, trees, and lichens. This work is a snapshot of my last summer days spent roaming in the forest, these wild places not so far from the city, in the Laurentians.

The result is a unique abstract landscape painting, presenting both an aerial view of the canopy of dense boreal forests, lush and bushy shrubs, and macroscopic shots of mosses and lichens growing on tree trunks—my way of prolonging a summer that was too short, or an attempt to immortalize a verdant nature where the abundance of greenery reigns supreme in tone upon tone.
